Three Queens | June Book Club

Author Rebecca Connolly has done it again! I’ve featured works by this author a number of times in the past with her titles such as Under The Cover of Mercy and A Brilliant Night of Stars and Ice, she’s a prolific writer of historical fiction, each one meticulously researched and engaging from the very first page.

This month, I’ve chosen her latest, Three Queens, for my June Book Club pick!

The Tides of Time | March Book Club

It’s been a while since I shared an historical romance with you, one of my favorite, “lose yourself for an afternoon” genres.

To remedy that, just in time for spring, I’ve chosen, “The Tides of Time”, by Sarah M. Eden, for my March Book Club pick.

So True A Love | September Book Club

SO TRUE A LOVE

September has arrived, and with it a changing of the seasons. Labor Day, regardless the weather, marks a turning point for many, from the idles of summer to the productivity of fall.

But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, as the old saying goes, so make sure you carve out some time for yourself between business meetings, school drop offs, shopping, cooking and house chores.

15 minutes a day curled up with a book that plucks you out of the daily grind and places you in the midst of the danger and passion of two love birds embroiled in a Bow Street investigation is what I’m talking about!

“So True A Love”, by Joanna Barker, is my book club pick for this month of transition, September.

I love to take a book out onto the porch or into the garden, any time of year, but right now, when the kids have gone back to school and the days are still warm, is when I have the best opportunity to do so. “So True A Love” is good company.

Miss Newbury's List | February Book Club

Hello February! I love you so! (And for so many reasons!)

You’re the month that brings us homebound commutes that don’t require headlights. The month we see the first signs of an awakening earth, with crocus and forsythia blooms and branches of fuzzy catkins. The month of Valentine’s Day and all it holds. My birthday month - and too many slices of cheesecake! (We even get a three-day weekend from you.) Here’s one I’d like everyone to know about, “Miss Newbury’s List”, by Megan Walker, my February Book Club pick!

It’s a Proper Romance, which means it has a rich layered storyline and well developed characters, but nothing between it’s pages to make you blush should your teen or tween pick it up. In fact, you’ll encourage them to do so! This piece of historical fiction will transport you back to 19th Century England, arranged marriages, and outrageous societal expectations, as well as remind you that no matter the era, all people experience self-discovery and the human spirit is all about following one's dreams which when strong enough can lead to new beginnings.

Rosalind Newbury is counting down the days until her wedding to the Duke of Marlow, a man she has only met twice. The marriage is more an agreement between two families and less a romantic connection between two hearts, but Rosalind becoming a duchess will elevate her family’s status to dizzying heights.
