If You'll Have Me | February Book Club

February… the month of romance!! It’s only fitting that my Book Club choice is reflective of this flowery focus!

“If You’ll Have Me,” a new release by Esther Hatch, hits shelves this week!

Cozy in with a cuppa, a cookie, and a few hours to immerse yourself in this delightful period piece with its lords and ladies, hopes and horrors, duties and desires…

A lady desperately seeking freedom. A prosperous younger man. An unexpected connection.

Anna Atwood returns to Breckenridge, where she spent one blissful summer as a young woman. This time, though, she comes to the quaint town as a penniless spinster with a single hope: to build a life free from the constraints her father’s death put on her and free from the persistent suitor Mr. Green, whose plans for marriage are Anna’s worst nightmare. Then she runs into David Tate, the boy she knew from that memorable summer…

David remembers Anna as the spirited woman who once brought light into his dark childhood. Now a man of means, he has a promising future, if he can withstand the powerful Lord Murphy—a man whose menacing hold on the town he owns is surpassed only by his relentless hold on David’s life.

In a moment of desperation, David and Anna agree to a proposal of convenience to provide the safety they both need. But as their attraction ignites, the looming dangers from Lord Murphy and Mr. Green threaten to destroy their budding happiness.

Life can be heavy, and while we need to participate fully, sometimes a little reading escape is just what we need. I believe reading is self-care. We can’t be expected to continually fulfill the needs of others when our own tank is empty.

Here’s “doctor” Delilah’s Rx: Pick up “If You’ll Have Me” for a healthy fix of fantastic fiction!

Walk On | February Book Club

Continuing a theme from January, my February Book Club choice is another great book to add to your personal support library.

"Walk On", by Stephen Panus, is an inspiring and emotionally powerful story which transcends grief, loss, and love, and provides anyone suffering from any form of adversity, struggle or hardship with rays of hope and a pathway for becoming the best version of themselves.

Stephen Panus has been a publicist, sports agent, artist, attorney, sports marketing executive, author, and motivational speaker. He’s represented an NFL Pro Bowl player and Super Bowl champion, a multiple-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 and a “Dancing with the Stars” champion, international star tennis players, and serves as CEO of Twisted Hairs, LLC, a strategic advisory agency offering marketing, media & public relations services. Yet, the only title that’s ever mattered to him has been being a father to his two boys, Jake and Liam.

When his elder son, Jake, was tragically and suddenly killed as a passenger in a reckless and senseless car crash at the tender age of sixteen in the summer of 2020, Stephen’s life imploded. Seeking to both survive and move forward, he wrote Walk On to confront his daily agony and inspire his family with a renewed and resilient faith in living and turning their pain into purpose.

Featured on "Good Morning America" as a GMA Book Club buzz selection in 2024, "Walk On" is an authentic memoir revealing a father's quest to turn pain into purpose after the tragic and sudden death of his beloved 16-year-old son, Jake.

More than anything, it's been said that "Walk On" is "a book for everyone because it can teach us all how to be better people."
