Two wonderful new family-friendly films will be released this month, 2 Hearts, and, When Last We Spoke.

Fair warning, 2 Hearts, starring Jacob Elordi, Adan Canto, Tiera Skovbye, and Radha Mitchell, which opens in theaters on October 16th, will require at least one full box of tissues!

Two separate love stories, in two separate decades, seem completely unrelated, until they aren't. When the connection is made, it us under unexpected, emotional, and powerful circumstances.

Like all good stories, faith, hope, and charity are woven together in a tapestry of love that will leave you in that happy/sad reflective state, compelling  you to reach out to your loved ones, and remembering to treat each new day as a miraculous gift.

Lionheart | February Book Club

thumbnail_Francisco_US_Trade_Hard_Cover.jpg

by David Francisco Platillero

Get Lionheart

About a year ago, I ran across one of the most touching videos on Facebook… it was a wedding proposal in the sweetest of settings, a wooded area with sparkling twinkly lights, and two of the most beautifully earnest people who were obviously over-the-moon in love. The man walked with the aid of forearm crutches, before getting to his knees, and from the second she realized what was unfolding, the woman was crying…

thumbnail_Book_Photos.jpg

Fast forward to an email I received a few weeks back telling me that the man kneeling in that video had written a book and recorded a music CD chronicling his journey - their journey - of “love, forgiveness, and the power of music.”

David Francisco Platillero is his name, and the first 24 years of his life read a bit like an American fairy tale; a happy, smart, and capable kid growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee with a loving, supportive family.

Involved in church, school, and music, and very very active, David went on to college and got a degree in electrical engineering, but soon decided that music, and music production, was where his heart and his passion lie. So in April of 2016, he packed up a few belongings and headed to Nashville where he’d enrolled in The Blackbird Academy (Owned by John and Martina McBride) to become the best music producer he could be.

23 days later the world David knew stopped. He was hit while riding his bicycle by a distracted driver, gravely injured, and told he would never walk again.

On February 14, 2020 his book, Lionheart, and the accompanying CD will be released. (I got an advanced copy!) Chapter by chapter, David recounts the days after the accident. Lionheart is an eloquent self-portrait of the talented musical artist that captures the pain, the progress the lessons, the love, and the miracles that define David’s new life.

By no coincidence, the chapters and song titles match, and David’s recommendation is that you read a chapter and then listen to the corresponding song for the story to be an experiential one for you, the reader, as well as for him, the writer. Lionheart is a book. Lionheart is a CD. Lionheart is a movement that aims to empower people to find purpose.”

David and his bride, Kristi, joined me recently on LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah to record a podcast, which will drop a little later this month. Get the book and the music CD before that happens and then make sure to listen in! The story will amaze and inspire you and his music is so so good!!!!

Celebrate Mom with my Top Pick Gifts and Win a Bundle!

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 13th!

Moms deserve to be celebrated! They gave us life, either because they carried us in their womb, or because they've carried us in their hearts.

They've taken care of our fevers, runny noses, dressed us, tended to our basic needs, our personal piques, and soothed our hurts and heartaches as we've navigated this big scary world.

Sometimes they've been in our favor, and as growing pains clouded our judgement, sometimes not. The thing is, we're ALWAYS in their favor. There is no kind of unconditional love like that of a mother!

Not sure how to celebrate your mom this Mother's Day? Well, simply being present is the best gift, I can assure you. Go out of your way to let her know she is loved and honored. Show your gratitude...

COOK FOR HER!  How many meals has this woman put in front of you? Mom's don't care if you know HOW to cook, they just care that you try.

Recall a special  memory you have of her and TELL HER.  All the feels! All the feels!

And, if you want to wrap it up with something that is wrapped up, I've got some suggestions: Music, books, candy, and flowers from some of my favorite radio program sponsors.*

*I'm giving away two (2) bundles of everything you see on this page! Read on for directions to enter my sweepstakes!

Love | Eternally

Love | Eternally

This month I’ve been exploring love in all of it’s glorious nuances and applications. We've talked about the importance of loving one's self, the ups and downs of romantic love, and today I’d like to cover eternal love. Love that knows no time limits, no constraints, no bounds whatsoever.

Valentine's Book Recommendations

Valentine's Book Recommendations

Is your Valentine a book-worm? The kind that loves to curl up in the corner with a cup of tea and good read? Or stretch out in the recliner and turn pages? I've got a short list of books that speak volumes about Love...

Love | Real, Raw, and Romantic

Romantic love is intoxicating and exhilarating, it makes you feel as if you can leap tall buildings or swim across the ocean to be with your true love. It's the stuff of poetry, plays, movies, lyrics, and sometimes, all out war.

My February Book Club pick is a New York Times best selling novel many of you may be familiar with, The Shack, by William P. Young.

It’s one of my FAVORITE books and has been adapted into a major motion picture coming out on March 3rd. Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer star in the movie, which also features my friend Tim McGraw.

Since the movie will be here soon, I decided it was a great time to pick it up and give it another read.

It was just as thought provoking and fantastic as the first (several) times I read it! Did I mention it was one of my favorite books, ever?!

At the center of the story is Mack Phillips who has experienced a tragic loss. A deep depression ensues and he finds himself questioning the very basis of his existence, his purpose, and experiencing a profound crisis of faith.

Led to an abandoned shack enveloped within the towering coniferous forests of Oregon’s Cascade wilderness by a letter that appears 4 years after the tragedy, Mack has doubts but decides to make the journey. There, he meets a woman with the odd name of “Papa” and two more strangers that initially leave him filled with even more confusion.

Yet through the experience Mack not only rediscovers himself, but takes to heart lessons of love, loss, and forgiveness, leaving with an understanding of how to live again after the unspeakable happened; walking out of the gloom and into the light.

Tim and Faith lend their voices to the soundtrack with “Keep Your Eyes On Me” written and performed by this beautiful couple. Listen to the song and watch the movie trailer HERE.

Pick it up, give it a read, then go see the movie when it comes out March 3rd!
