A big part of the vacation experience was the journey to our destination. The journey can be the best part of the vacation if you plan it right. The journey can take you thru beautiful country sides, big cities, to the best ice cream shops, to the best lakeshore skipping rocks, thru the Redwood trees, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, to a roadside turnout that overlooks a beautiful canyon, down the slide into your great aunt Barbara's pool…
Enjoy the journey, but if you prefer to stay close to home this summer, make time for a staycation. Take some time off and enjoy your town, your home, your garden, relax…and don't do any work! Revive the summer vacation and do what makes you happy. Do it with the people you love.
We get so busy with work and everyday obligations that we barely remember what it feels like to check out for a little while. Enjoy a messy Popsicle in the shade, drift around on an air mattress in the pool and do — nothing important. Which happens to be very important.
