If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
And pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
That I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
And call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
So I could play them back day after day.
I read a quote the other day, a Finnish proverb that says: "Happiness is
somewhere between too little and too much." It got me thinking about the holiday
season and the need to teach my children the importance of gift giving over gift
getting. It's important my children know that true joy comes from making others
happy, and a good way to do this is by giving back to charity.
We’re now in Fall; time to curl up by the fire, make a hot cup of tea and reflect on everything we have to be thankful for this past year. I am rarely at a loss of having family around me, and I am most thankful for that.
And when they’re not around me, they’re in touch with me, often sending text messages in that conversational tone that often makes me laugh and smile. I am thankful to have the time with my kids, and grandkids and wonderful friends.
And with you, my listeners, too. You have all shared so much with me, such as your personal stories that often are meant to go with song dedications. I am grateful for the chance to be a part of your lives many evenings.
