Toni

I was sitting across from the ‘Diva of the Night’ and her second, gorgeous brain, Janey B. I didn’t feel the slightest nervosa. Calm, chill, cool… “This is the place where my studio will be built. I can see…” paraphrasing Delilah of course – “I can see the studio here, my booth here; we’ll put offices on this floor, and more studios back there.” I'm thinking "WHOA --- This is a lotta work, 40 PC's to build, 4 studios to wire - ahh - Fantastic."

Back on track ~ apologies... MONTHS of trips back and forth between the Delilah Show studio and the Premiere headquarters… Delilah popped the question, some time around Hanukah. “So Tone, you like it here, you get along with our peeps.” ((((HOLD UP – back to Toni paraphrasing))) “You fit here…. So, you want to move to the Big Shoe Box?”

BTW, she even wrote me the sweetest Valentine prompting me a couple months later to come aboard --- To Little Toni – “Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Your heart is beyond Measure, Move to the Big Shoe Box and leave all that pressure.”

“OIY~~~~~~!” I thought. “Hmm, no surfing!! No Getty Center! No more watching the Co-Merica Building and Tower Record lights turn on from my executive office on Ventura Blvd at 6:15pm.” (It’s the little things.)

“OIY~~~~~~! I love those Shoe Box people! Done deal!” Moved to the City of the Big Shoe Box.

I was blessed that day D. asked me to join her team. I moved the Delilah studios and staff out of a corporate studio into the Big Shoe Box.

MY STORY BEFORE THAT — I started in radio 15 years ago, with a syndicated overnight radio show that grew like an Asian bird epidemic (literally) – we beat Larry King!!! I was one of the originals (much like all the staff at Big Shoe Box). I started out in radio as a board-op (while still in High School), working for previously mentioned syndicator. I worked very hard in school and was offered a full medical school scholarship from an inspired cardiac specialist. I had to decline the scholarship to deal with some family emergencies. A couple days after I declined the scholarship, the radio syndicator offered to put me through engineering school.

“OIY~~~~~~~~~~~ I don’t want to be an engineer~~~Well, Sure fine – it’s school of some sort.” I seemed to say to the kind ‘Corbeth’ offering.

Since then, I have worked for radio clusters as an engineer, radio networks as a program director, and developed many of the national shows that you hear on any number of formats. I’ve had a number of experiences good, bad and 'learned’; and if I had to do all that, with all of the other shows, just to get to be a part of the magic that happens out of the Big Shoe Box, it was ALL, totally worth it!

God Bless You, God Bless Me! La Chaim!
