— Dave Barry

“If God did not intend for us to eat animals, then why did he make them out of meat?”

— John Cleese

“There is hope for the future because God has a sense of humor and we are funny to God.”

Bill Cosby

Hi, my name is Dee Dee.

I joined Delilah’s fabulous ‘collection of eclectics’ in January 2006 and life hasn’t been the same since! I have two titles here at the studio; Supreme Call Screener & Webmaster Assistant. (Ok, I admit I added the “supreme” part …I don’t think Donna would let me get away with “Best Call Screener EVER”). I love the diversity of people that listen to the Delilah show and enjoy talking to those of you who call in with dedications, song requests, and amazing stories.

Working with Webmaster Alan is an amazing learning experience! His talent for putting together fabulous web content is something I hope to be able to do someday. I have been able to work with him on a few projects; if you have visited www.Delilah.com and read her “Blast from the Past” series then you know a little something about our long-time friendship. For those of you who missed those early chapters into Delilah’s background, here’s the short version of the story.

Delilah and I grew up in the same small town on the Oregon Coast. Living next to the most perfect beaches in the Pacific Northwest, we had the best playground imaginable! In junior high I became friends with Delilah’s friend Natasha… this did not however, go over well with Delilah. You see Tash was HER friend first and besides… Delilah hadn’t been consulted. (You may not know this but she likes to be included in most everything…a trait formally known as Nosey.) Eventually the three of us became the best of ‘Grit’ friends and 32 years later, we still are!

I love to laugh; in fact, Humor is the very essence of who I am. Puns and good old Irony are my favorites; life can give you all that and then some, just look around… there is an endless supply of funny to be found!

My family’s support in this new adventure means so much to me. Steve, my husband of 25 years, and our 16 year-old son Ryan have been troopers with all the changes that have occurred in the past 9 months. We sold our house, packed our stuff into a storage POD, strapped the dog and cat into the car, waved goodbye to our dearest friends and everything that was familiar… and looked to a new future. Currently we are living in a small two bedroom, one bath Condo while our house is being built. While the humans are adjusting to this temporary condensed living arrangement (come on…ONE bathroom!?), the pets are not.

In true Labrador fashion our beautiful blond girl, Baylee, has adapted to the lack of space through the bribes of lots of biscuits and sleeping in the middle of the bed with mom and dad. Jimmy the cat, however, will not be bought off with mere treats and soft spots to sleep. Oh NO! Our old house sat on two heavily treed acres and was “mountain lion” Jimmy’s favorite place to be… unless it was cold, then of course he wanted to be in the house on a lap. Because we live close to a busy road and there are wild animals outside that can cause damage to country cats, Jimmy has been put on house arrest. He is not pleased. He lets us know that by meowwwwwwing very loudly, hour after hour. We try to be sympathetic and patient - and he’s gotten better at dodging flying tennis shoes. Oh well, it’s not long term and this is great material for his therapist.

Here at the Delilah Studio my co-workers (a.k.a., ‘collection of eclectics’) and I have a lot of fun and there’s always laughter and lots of food. Sometimes, when I make lunch for everyone, I get in trouble with some of the crew who don’t think meatloaf and smashed potatoes are an acceptable “Diet” meal but the rest of the gang just smiles and goes back for seconds.

In a way that’s what Delilah’s show is all about: giving her listeners a comfortable place to relax, unwind, laugh and come back for second helpings

I invite you to come back to my page often… I’ll be posting bits of Delilah trivia, little peeks into her life from the past and present! In fact, let’s start off with the first question right now!

Since Delilah left KDUN in Reedsport, OR and started her career in the “real” world, there has been one song that she’s played over and over and over! Can you name the song? *Hint: It was released in 1979. Send me email with your answer to deedee@delilah.com.
